01 / THREAT ASSESSMENT

Damage at parking speed.

SPEC: URBAN DENSITY

Tempe vehicles do not arrive with the damage Mesa and Gilbert vehicles arrive with. There is far less gravel-hauler chipping across the hood, because most Tempe driving is short, surface-street driving inside a city that is only forty square miles. What Tempe vehicles get instead is contact damage — and a great deal of it.

Sixty-five thousand-plus people move through ASU. The parking structures around campus, the garages off Mill Avenue, and the packed apartment lots along Apache and Rural put cars closer together than anywhere else in the Valley. The result is a consistent pattern: dinged door edges, scuffed bumper corners, scraped mirror caps, and paint transfer from vehicles parked inches away.

WHAT THAT MEANS

A full-front package is often the wrong first purchase for a Tempe driver. If you are not putting on freeway miles, the higher-value coverage is the contact zone — door edges, door cups, mirror caps, bumper corners, rocker panels. Less film, less money, aimed at where the damage actually lands.

TEMPE SERVICES

What we do here.

Three disciplines, one studio — and for Tempe customers, a studio you can actually stand in before you decide.

Paint Protection Film

Self-healing film over the panels taking the hits. For Tempe drivers that is frequently a contact-zone package rather than a full front — we will tell you which one your vehicle actually needs.

Colour Change Wrap

Full colour change in premium cast vinyl — matte, satin, gloss or colour-shift — without touching the factory paint underneath. Fully reversible, which matters on a leased or financed vehicle.

Fleet & Commercial

Tempe carries a dense mix of trades, delivery and campus-area service businesses. We brand vans and trucks consistently and schedule around your operating hours.

02 / VEHICLE MIX

The widest spread we see.

No other city we serve sends us a mix this wide. In a single week a Tempe schedule can hold a ten-year-old Civic belonging to a student, a leased Model 3 from a Town Lake high-rise, a contractor's work truck out of south Tempe, and something genuinely expensive from a Papago-adjacent address. Scottsdale is predictable. Tempe is not.

That changes how we quote. The same film on a well-used commuter and on a new EV is not the same decision, and we do not pretend otherwise. On the older car the question is whether protection returns more than it costs; on the EV it usually is not close.

Uncovered parking is the real enemy

A lot of Tempe housing stock — the student complexes, the older apartments off Apache Boulevard and Rural Road — was built without covered parking. Those vehicles absorb full Arizona UV every day of their lives. That is what chalks red and black paint, hazes headlights, cracks dashboards and destroys the clear coat on a roof and hood before the car is ten years old.

DRIVING AN EV?

Tempe has one of the highest EV densities in the metro. Tesla, Rivian and Lucid vehicles need a different approach — softer factory paint, and sensor placements that film has to be cut around rather than laid over.

03 / NEIGHBOURHOODS

Where Tempe work comes from.

Tempe is compact, but it is not uniform. The vehicle and the damage change considerably between the north end and the south end.

Mill Avenue & Downtown

Garage and street parking, constant foot traffic, and vehicles left overnight in public lots. The highest rate of contact damage and door dings we see anywhere.

Town Lake & North Tempe

High-rise and mid-rise residential with structured parking. Newer vehicles, a heavy EV share, and owners who tend to protect from day one rather than after the damage.

Warner Ranch & The Lakes

South Tempe, established and shaded, with garages. Less UV damage and lower contact damage — these are the vehicles where a full-front package and ceramic actually pencil.

Escalante, Maple-Ashe & Optimist Park

Dense, older housing close to campus with mostly uncovered parking. Sun damage dominates here, and ceramic coating or tint often returns more than film does.

03 / TEMPE QUESTIONS

Common Questions.

Where in Tempe is the studio?
102 S River Dr, just off the river bottom north of Rio Salado. If you live in Tempe you are almost certainly under fifteen minutes away, and a lot of our Tempe customers simply walk or get a ride home after dropping off.
Can I visit before booking?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Tempe customers are the easiest to show rather than tell — come by, look at film on a finished vehicle in person, and see the difference between a good install and a cheap one before you spend anything.
Is paint protection film worth it if I mostly park at ASU?
The threat profile is different from a freeway commuter, but it is still real. Garage parking around campus means door edges, mirror caps and bumper corners taking contact from other cars, carts and bikes. Film on those specific panels is usually a better value than a full-front package if you are not putting on highway miles.
My car lives in an uncovered lot. What does that actually do?
A lot of Tempe housing — student complexes, older apartments off Apache and Rural — has no covered parking at all. A vehicle sitting in full sun year-round will fade clear coat, chalk red and black paint, and crack the dash and trim. Ceramic coating and UV-stable film both slow that considerably, and window tint does more for the interior than most people expect.
How long will my vehicle be with you?
A full-front PPF package is typically two days. A full colour change wrap is closer to five to seven, depending on how much disassembly the vehicle needs. We give you a firm window before you commit, not an estimate that moves.
Do you work on student budgets?
We will tell you honestly what is worth doing and what is not. Sometimes that answer is a partial film package on the panels that matter and nothing else, or ceramic coating instead of film. We would rather size the job to what the vehicle is worth than sell a package that does not make sense.
